Lip Syncing exercise

Lip Syncing Exercise:

Alicia and I practiced some lip syncing to test out how lip syncing works with the music. We were originally unsure about what song we were going to choose but we decided to both choose songs that we knew the words to so it would be easier to make the music fit what we were saying.

We played the music at the same time on our phones as mouthing the words to make sure that the music fitted to our lip syncing as much as possible. We each planned to record roughly around 30 seconds of our songs. I decided to use the verse that led into the chorus of the song as the chorus is very short meaning I wanted to make sure that I lip synced as much as possible. It took a couple of takes to get perfect as when I looked back at the footage Alicia had recorded my lip syncing looked a bit off when against the music.

Once we were happy with how it looked we uploaded our clips to iMovie where we took off the music in the background of the clips as they were unclear and quite, quiet. We each found our songs on YouTube and downloaded the songs onto iMovie. We each placed our music roughly against our clips but realised that the music didn't fit to our lip syncing. I found this hard as I had to keep cropping the song to find the exact verse that I had lip synced. I cropped the song down just to the verse that I had recorded and had to keep moving the song from different positions to make sure that the music was exactly in line with my lip syncing.

Once the music was roughly in line with our lip syncing we wanted to make sure that the clip of use was stabilised as it was very shaky as it was recorded with each of us holding our phone camera.

Overall, I feel that the way we did this was very successful as playing the music while lip synching helped us when coming to edit the music onto the lip sync. However, to improve it I would make sure that we didn't use a phone camera but used an actual camera as this would help with the stabilisation of the shots. I have learnt that you need to make sure that you show your mouth a lot and move it around to make it clear what you're saying. This will help us when it comes to edit the lip sync to the music as it will be clear exactly what part we have recorded.

Below is the lip syncing exercise:
