Researching magazine covers

Below are examples of magazine front covers that I have looked at the contain several different genres. I decided to look at the magazine front covers that The Black eyed Peas have been on to see the style of what they wore and the way that it looked. I also looked at 2 very popular magazine brands that have Katy Perry and Beyonce on them to see if they looked effective and to see the colours and the way that they're dressed to give me some ideas.

I have found this magazine cover which I think is very interesting as it shows the band in a rock theme which goes with the name of the magazine. They're all wearing the colour black which suggests the rock band theme of rock n roll. The girl is wearing provocative clothing compared to the men who are wearing trousers. This is stereotypical for females to not wear many clothes while modelling as it is seen as a selling point for a wider variety of audience. The colours of the writing are yellow and white which looks effective against the white, black and red in the background. The different fonts are used effectively as the parts in bold writing are the parts that the audience will see first which are the important parts in the magazine. The name of the magazine is behind the band hiding parts of the name. However, The Rolling Stone magazine is an immensely popular magazine that many people know of so it isn't necessary to have the full name for people to know what it is.



     
I looked at this magazine as I found it very interesting also as the name of the magazine goes with the image as it isn't what you would normally see on the front cover for her hair to be crazy. This is because you normally see the artists hair to be perfect. Beyonce is very well known which means that people will know instantly that its her and want to buy it. Meaning the magazine knows that therein selling part of the magazine cover will be the image which is why they have made it the key part of the cover. The colours of gold, white and red look really effective and go together really well. For example, the gold against the white background makes Beyonce stand out even more.
